Foreigner - 2017
Foreigner’s 40th Anniversary Tour with Prism was hosted by Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, Ontario on November 13, 2017 - by Tania Normand.
This was my second time watching them perform live; the last was in February of 2015.
The night started off with a Canadian Rock band from Vancouver formed in 1977. ‘Prism’ needed no introduction at this venue. They kicked off their set with my all-time favourite ‘Spaceship Superstar’ and hearing the screams from the crowd it was evident I was not alone. “You Walked Away’ was next and they ended their 6 song set with ‘Armageddon.
Foreigner opened their set with the electrifying song “Double Vision” with lead singer Kelly Hansen wowing the crowd with his high energy vocals and moves. The set continued with Foreigner’s classic tunes of ‘Head Games’, ‘Cold as Ice, Waiting for a Girl Like You, & Blue Morning Blue Day”.
It was spectacular to view the amazing array of lights and special effects included in this 40-year anniversary tour and of course the unlimited energy from Kelly Hanson who never stops moving while working the crowd.
Kelly Hansen while introducing the band members made a special mention to the long-time founding and original member of Foreigner's Mick Jones. Jones, a guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer formed Foreigner with the original lead singer Lou Gramm in 1976. With all intros out of the way, the band segued into yet another classic “Feels like the First Time” with the spotlight on Mick Jones.
The night closed with Foreigner performing their two of their outstanding hits ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and “Hot Blooded” for their encore presentation. An excellent performance by Foreigner who gave the crowed exactly what they came out to hear on a Monday night, their all time favourites!
