Loathe Brings A Stranger to You to a Sold-Out HISTORY in Toronto

Toronto's HISTORY was packed Sunday night as Loathe brought their A Stranger to You North American tour to the city for its only Canadian stop. With Prostitute and Fleshwater opening the night, the sold-out show delivered three very different takes on heavy music before Loathe took control of the room.
 

Prostitute

Opening the night was Prostitute, hitting the stage early and immediately setting an abrasive, chaotic tone. Their blend of noise rock and experimental heaviness provided a suitably confrontational introduction to the evening.

Even with people still making their way into the venue, Prostitute wasted little time establishing the darker atmosphere that would carry through the night.

Fleshwater

Fleshwater followed and shifted the mood without sacrificing any of the weight.

Heavy guitars collided with melodic vocals and hazy, atmospheric textures, giving the band a sound that fit naturally alongside Loathe while remaining distinctly their own.

By this point HISTORY was filled and the anticipation in the room was building quickly. Fleshwater's combination of aggression and melody proved an ideal bridge between the raw intensity of Prostitute and what was still to come.

Loathe

At approximately 9:00 p.m., Loathe finally emerged.

Touring behind their 2026 album A Stranger to You, the Liverpool band opened with the atmospheric “Entrance” before launching into “Block of Flats,” “Fortress Down” and “Gemini.”

It immediately demonstrated what makes Loathe such an interesting live band.

Crushing riffs and guttural vocals could suddenly disappear into atmospheric, almost dreamlike passages before everything came crashing back again. That contrast between brutality and beauty remained at the centre of the performance throughout the night.

Older favorites including “Screaming,” “Aggressive Evolution,” “New Faces in the Dark,” “A Sad Cartoon,” “Two-Way Mirror,” “Is It Really You?” and “Gored” sat alongside newer material including “Meet My Maker,” “Fangs,” “The Way It Breaks” and “Revenant.”

From the opening songs onward, the floor at HISTORY was alive. The band's heavier moments brought an explosive response from the crowd, while the atmospheric sections transformed the room into something almost hypnotic.

Loathe closed the main set with “No Stranger to You…” before returning for one final song.

“Gifted Every Strength.”

It was an emphatic finish to a night that demonstrated just how much Loathe's audience has grown.

Six years separated A Stranger to You from the band's previous full-length album, but Toronto certainly hadn't forgotten them.

A sold-out HISTORY, an intensely engaged crowd and a set spanning both eras made Loathe's only Canadian appearance on this tour feel like much more than another stop on the schedule.

For Toronto, it was one very loud welcome back.
