A Monday night out at the Phoenix Concert Theatre… I was amazed to see the venue packed with a loud, energetic Torontonian crowd especially for a Monday night. Yes it was all for Zara Larson and Clean Bandit that played to a sold out show here in Toronto!!!

Zara Larsson was the opening act for the night, a singer and songwriter from Sweden who is taking over the pop music world. Her powerful vocals especially, from a petite 19 year old were astounding. Zara along with a group of energetic dancers kept the crowd tapping their toes and moving in rhythm to the loud beat of their popular tunes.

‘Lush Life’ kicked of the set with the energetic dancers followed by ‘What They Say’ and then a cover from Tinie Tempah, ‘Girls Like’. The set comprised of 10 songs which blew through real quick. This young artist is going a long way and we will definitely be hearing from this rising star in the near future.

Clean Bandit, came out on stage after two huge chants from a restless audience. A British group formed in Cambridge and are well known for their electronic, dance-pop music all over the world. Grace Chatto held the audience’s attention with her mesmerizing vocals and her skill with the Cello. Jack Patterson on Bass and Luke Patterson on Drums, made sure they held that tempo with those pounding beats. There were two additional vocalist who started the show and continued to fill in with solo and harmonies. This was my first time listening to this genre and I have to say, I was impressed. Electronics have come a long way!
