Carpenter Brut, HEALTH & Desire Light Up History

Toronto didn’t look ready for what was about to unfold.

Just before doors at History, the usual pre-show scene felt unusually calm. No long lines wrapping the building. No obvious signs of a packed night ahead. But as the doors opened and the first notes hit the stage, that quiet quickly gave way to something much bigger.

🌙 Desire Sets the Mood

Desire eased the crowd into the night with a sleek, cinematic synthpop set.

The Montreal-based act brought a polished, nostalgic sound layered with modern edge. With a striking stage presence, equal parts poised and hypnotic. Desire drew the early crowd in quickly. Subtle, sensuous movements paired with glowing neon tones created a vibe that felt more like stepping into a film than a typical opening set.

By the end of their performance, the shift was clear:
the floor had filled out, and the energy in the room had started to build.

⚙️ HEALTH Delivers a Powerful Direct Support Set

HEALTH took that momentum and pushed it into darker territory.

The Los Angeles industrial rock outfit stepped into a dim, hazy stage, immediately locking into their heavy, atmospheric sound.

🔥 Carpenter Brut Unleashes Controlled Chaos

When Carpenter Brut took the stage, everything escalated.

The project of French artist Franck Hueso is known for turning live shows into full sensory experiences, and Toronto got exactly that. Recent performances on this tour have leaned into intense, blinding lighting and cinematic visuals, and History was no exception.

From the opening moments, the venue was engulfed in:

• strobe-heavy lighting

• deep shadows and silhouettes

• pulsing, high-impact sound

It wasn’t just a performance; it was an assault of light and sound.

Tracks like Turbo Killer and Roller Mobster hit with force, each one triggering waves of energy across the crowd. What stood out most was the balance; moments of relentless intensity contrasted with atmospheric breaks that gave the set a cinematic, almost narrative flow.

What began as a quiet scene outside had now transformed into a wall-to-wall crowd fully immersed in the experience.
