Blue Rodeo “1000 Arms Tour 2017”-Tribute Communities Centre- Saturday February 11, 2017.

For the second time around I get to see and review the great Canadian Band “Blue Rodeo”

The show started promptly at 8:00pm with an opening band comprising of 4 gents hailing from Toronto, Canada named “The Sadies”. The Sadies reminded me of a band “The Mamas & The Papas” and I was told they did duets collaborating family members into their performances. ‘The Sadies’ have a country and western sound with an east coast blues twist in their music. The song “There’s a Higher Power” got the crowd’s attention and never lost the momentum. They also included several songs from their ‘Northern Passages’ album. I got to say they put on a high energy show even though the sound was muffled at times.

Blue Rodeo hit the stage with Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor with ‘Heart of Mine’. The stage was in total darkness with only a ray of light shining on this duo… The fourth song of the night was “Disappear”; this song is about a band member’s old flame. The song ended with an amazing piano solo and Jim Cuddy working the crowd.

The list goes on… the next song ‘1000 Arms’ which was also the name of this tour for 2017 and then an oldie but one my favorites “Rose Colored Glasses”. No Blue Rodeo concert is complete without their more popular song such as “After the Rain” & “Bad Timing”, a great win with the crowd. Blue Rodeo acknowledged ‘The Sadies’ for being part of this tour by performing one of their songs “Palace of Gold”. The Band played a continuous set for 2 hours straight with great energy and crowd interactions for the entire night. On completing their set list the band exited and did not return for almost two whole minutes for their encore presentation. Then screams and roars of the crowd were intense. The encore encompassed yet another all-time favorite of mine “Try”. This was the very first song I heard from “Blue Rodeo” many years ago.

Yet another great performance from Blue Rodeo and wish them all the best in their ‘Thousand Arms Tour 2017’
