Return of Cleopatrick, and why their show at History (Toronto) on December 4 was one to remember

Cleopatrick stormed the stage at History in Toronto, with support from The Effens and The OBGMs — marking their first full headline show in Toronto in years.
Cleopatrick with their thunderous return to Toronto with their recent headline show made the night feel like a full circle moment for me. I last photographed the duo back in April 2022, when they opened for Royal Blood. Even then their grit and stage presence hinted they'd soon be headlining big rooms like this and wow did they ever live up to that promise.

The night kicked off with The Effens, who wasted no time igniting the crowd. Their noisy, frenetic energy felt like a jolt — unpredictable in the best way and perfect for loosening up a room on the brink of chaos.

Up next were The OBGMs bringing swagger, sharp riffs, and one of the most charismatic stage presences of the night. Their mix of alt-rock sheen and garage-punk edge dialed the energy up even further, setting the perfect tone for what was coming.

As someone who covered their 2022 set with Royal Blood, photographing this show felt like witnessing a milestone. Same band, same DNA, but now amplified, refined, and completely in their element.
